Inti Gourmet Fine Peruvian Food sits quietly on Nepean Hwy in Chelsea, offering a full-service dining experience grounded in authentic Peruvian cuisine. For locals and visitors who appreciate South American flavors without having to venture into Melbourne’s inner suburbs, Inti delivers a calm, approachable atmosphere where traditional dishes are the stars.

The restaurant’s setting feels relaxed rather than flashy, making it suitable for a casual dinner with friends or a low-key date night. It’s the kind of place where the friendly staff naturally create a welcoming vibe, evident from the attentive service and warm interactions that many notice. The layout allows for comfortable seating and easy access to the nearby courtyard, with an additional entry point from the rear carpark—handy for beachgoers swinging by before or after a walk along the bay.

Menu-wise, Inti leans into classic Peruvian staples that reflect the region’s diverse culinary heritage. Dishes like Lomo Saltado—a stir-fried beef and vegetable plate—stand out for their rich, savory flavors and generous portions, proving popular with those who appreciate hearty meals. The Cebiche de Pescado offers a fresh, zesty counterbalance, highlighted by crisp textures and citrus tang that work well as a starter or a lighter choice. For snacks or sharing, cassava chips with huancaina sauce and the Papa Rellena (stuffed potatoes) add variety and hint at the depth of local tastes on offer.

Drink choices also deepen the experience, with classic Peruvian offerings like Pisco Sour and Cusqueña beer bringing an authentic touch. For those seeking non-alcoholic options, traditional beverages such as the purple corn-based Chicha Morada are available, providing a flavorful taste of Peru’s culinary landscape beyond the plate.

Inti’s crowd tends to be diverse—locals familiar with Peruvian food, curious first-timers, and sometimes families or couples seeking something a bit different for the evening. The restaurant handles dietary needs thoughtfully, with options available for gluten and lactose intolerances, which broadens its appeal. Even dishes like anticuchos (grilled skewers, including heart) find converts among diners willing to explore more adventurous tastes.

The best time to visit is quieter weekday evenings or weekends not during peak dining hours, which allows for a more unhurried experience and better interaction with staff who can guide newcomers through the menu. The ability to park easily and even step out to the nearby beach afterward makes it a practical choice for those wanting a relaxed night out with a genuine taste of Peruvian culture nestled in Chelsea’s suburban mix.

The two ladies who served us was friendly. We ordered the beef heart. I don't usually eat hearts but this was really good. Also hot the steamed corn. My bf got the Lomo Saltado which was so tasty!!! He got full, so I finished it off cos you can't let the sauce and steak go to waste! The fried pork belly was good too, but a bit of salt or sauce to dip with would be good.

This place is a gem. Great food and service. Loved the cebiche de pescado (snapper ceviche).. Tip: if you are with a group, get a 'main' serve and share (staff are very accommodating). The seafood stew (Seco de pescado), also a treat, saucy with rice and and a chunk of steamed cassava....mops up well. Anticucho ( beef heart skewers) thin slices of skewered beef was perfect with the salsa del rocoto (chilli sauce)... Don't be chicken, get it. The steamed banana leaf parcel (Tamal con zarza criolla) and Papa rellena very nice too. Save space for dessert... We had the Suspiro a la limena ( caramel with a meringue cream all in a glass, really nice, sweet ) and the Tres Leches... OK... When you read 'sponge cake soaked in 3 milks' you think.. 'no thanks'... BUT luckily the waitress recommended it... It's amazing! Thank you for that. Finally.. The staff /owner whipped up arepas for us (traditional flat breads, pan fried)... .. Cheesy with smashed avocado, and not on the menu... A must and again, thank you so much! And all washed down with the fruity sangria jug. We'll be back to work through the menu...
